EAST OF SABAH
: Our basic tour. 8 days 7 nights
A 40 minute flight or 5 hours by road away
from Kota Kinabalu is Sandakan, Sabah¹s second largest
city, the former state capital from 1884 until the Japanese
invasion in 1942. During the timber boom of the 60's and
the 70s, the city was once said to have contained the greatest
concentration of millionaires in the world. Although still
preserving some vestiges to the heady past Sandakan today
has mellowed to a more sober period, acting as a market town
for the growing agricultural spreads of the east coast.
Day 1 Pick up from hotel at 4.45am[sorry!]
to KK airport for flight to Sandakan. Meet at airport &
transfer to Sepilok Nature Resort beside the Orang Utan Sanctuary
for breakfast. Continue 110 km to Sukau where we take a 10
minute boat ride to Sukau River Lodge for lunch. Late afternoon
take a two hour river cruise using silent electric motor in
search of wild Proboscis monkeys as they settle down on treetops
along the Kinabatangan
River. Return for solar heated hot shower, candle light dinner
and slide show conducted by naturalist. Overnight at Sukau
River Lodge. ( F/B )
Day 2 After breakfast transfer to Sukau by boat and

forest to the cave entrance. Your guide will brief you on
the cave fauna including bats, swiftlets and crabs
among others and their contribution to maintaining a balanced
ecology and significance to the local economy. When in season,

As you can see from the above we like to
combine different elements within a clients stay with us in
Sabah. We believe that most people want to see Borneo¹s
world class flora and fauna, especially the Orang Utans, do
something adventurous away from the main tourist train and
then relax for a while, perhaps with some diving before returning
home. With our local contact numbers not only do you have
support close at hand within the same time zone but if you
want to change your itinerary at some point for any reason
then we will do what we can to accommodate your request.
